Loop:Recycle (2009)
Sound Art installation at UAL
(50 found loudspeakers, wiring, 8-channel amplifier, laptop running custom Max/MSP patch)
Recordings were made of journeys across London to collect loudspeakers and appliances containing loudspeakers (advertised on freecycle). 50 loudspeakers were then recycled and arranged in clusters fed by a custom Max/MSP software patch that randomly output these recordings to one of 8 randomly assigned channels feeding an 8-channel amplifier. This created an evolving and ever-changing soundscape of field recording loops across a broad area and frequency range, including larger speakers magnetically attached to a metal bench which certain recordings would vibrate intensely, providing an additional tactile physical way to experience the sound.
Feedback Loops (2009)
Edited recordings from a closed electronic system (25:20)
Several digital and analog effect devices feeding an audio mixer and audio interface were chained in a feedback loop system. Space and levels were manipulated to create slow movement in the system.
